Scope/mission statement
All legal regulations concerning animal welfare have to be discussed in the committee. Omission leads to invalidity of the regulation.
Structure
Composition of the committee is composed of scientists, representatives of NGOs, representatives of society and churches.
Working methods
The work is based on a legal regulation that defines the remit of the committee. The committee discusses thoroughly all legal documents concerning animal welfare and formulates statements and recommendations which are documented in internal minutes.
Publications
The committee gives advice in form of recommendations directly to the Minister, presently Federal Minister Julia Klöckner. The advice is not public.
